Coalition to Unchain Dogs

The Coalition to Unchain Dogs has been helping chained dogs and their people since the spring of 2007. The Coalition is a new breed of animal welfare organization that believes in ‘rescuing dogs in their own backyard’ by assisting and focusing on the people.  The dogs’ owners are thrilled by the striking improvement they witness in their dog’s health and well being. The organization has “unchained” over 1,000 dogs since it got started!

Not only do they build free fences, they also pay for spay/neuter surgery, health exams, de-wormer and vaccinations for every dog they build a fence for. They provide transportation for thedogs to the clinic, information to the owners about pet care, free doghouses where needed, straw for the houses in cool weather, and shade tarps in hot weather.

The Coalition concentrates on assisting people in communities that are underserved and mostly ignored by other groups, animal and human alike. They deliberately focus their work in the neighborhoods with the highest poverty rates and the highest crime rates.  You can help by sponsoring a dog for a fence or by donating to the organization – 100% of funds go to helping dogs get unchained! ,
