At Seattle Humane Society’s 22nd annual Tuxes & Tails gala, furry tails really did come true! Animal lovers gathered at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue for a spectacular event that raised a record-breaking $865,000 for the animals in Seattle Humane Society’s care. Local media celebrities showed their support by walking the fashion show runway with their own pets and Seattle Humane shelter pets available for adoption. Five pets featured on the runway were adopted after the event!

“It’s inspiring to see so many people gathered together for one great cause,” said David Loewe, Chief Executive Officer. “The support of our community makes all the difference in the lives of the thousands of homeless animals in our care.  We are so grateful for the support of all who attended Tuxes & Tails.”

The special “Fund-A-Need” portion of the live auction raised $369,000 for the older animals at Seattle Humane. Most shelters don’t consider pets older than seven adoptable, but Seattle Humane gives every healthy and adoptable animal as long as it takes for us to find them a home of their own – regardless of age. Last year, we found homes for 221 dogs and 356 cats older than 7 years. That’s a total of 577 pets who once had a family and ended up at a shelter through no fault of their own, and are now living out their golden years with wonderful families.

If you couldn’t make it to Tuxes & Tails this year, it’s not too late to make a difference!
