All they want is a furever Home for the Holidays!

The Oregon Humane Society is asking the public to open their hearts to nearly 200 special shelter animals who are looking for a Home for the Holidays this December. Some of these pets have been patiently waiting for adoption for more than three months. Remember, read Jonathan Klein’s suggestions about adopting pets at the holidays too before you do this!

Every animal at the OHS shelter on December 1st is considered a “Home for the Holidays” pet, and OHS wants to place each of these animals into a new home by December 31st. “No one wants to spend the holidays away from friends and family, and that includes the pets at our shelter,” said OHS Executive Director Sharon Harmon.

Starting Dec. 1st, the OHS lobby will showcase a picture of  all 199 animals in the shelter who are available for adoption. The lobby will be decorated in its holiday best and the OHS Animal Giving Tree will be up for anyone who wants to place a gift for a shelter pet under the tree (see the “Wish List” for needed gifts on the OHS website at oregonhumane.org).

During a typical December, OHS finds homes for 750 dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, and the occasional bird. OHS never euthanizes animals because of space limitations, so Stella and Kanga will remain available for adoption as long as needed.

  1. Too late for me to read this blog. I am planning to get my own pet , it may be a cat or a dog. Until now, I am still searching for it. Is it possible to adopt a dog there at this time? Thank you so much.
