Thanks to Susies Hope

Donna Lawrence and “Susie,” of Susies Hope Foundation (High Point, NC) and the film, Susie’s Hope, were welcomed as honored guests at the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation’s 21st Annual Lady In Red Gala: A Night In Shanghai this weekend at Mar-a-lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday evening, December 6, 2014.

The fitting invitation follows Susie’s recognition as the American Humane Association 2014 Hero Dog earlier this year. The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation partners with the American Humane Association (AHA) to support its mission to protect children and animals and promote awareness of the mutual benefits to both people and animals and their mutual bond. Pope extended the personal invitation to Susie as the first canine to attend the prestigious social event. Proceeds from this year’s gala, hosted by Martin Short and co-chaired by Mrs. Pope, Dr. Robert Mackler, Patrick Park and Lola Astanova, will be donated to the American Humane Association. Melania and Donald Trump were honorary chairs.

As an introduction to Susie’s story, guests enjoyed a brief video excerpt from the 2014 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards. Both Susie and Donna Lawrence were victims of tragedy caused by animal abuse and neglect. Together, they have grown in hope, trust and love to not only demonstrate the bond between humans and animals and their mutual ability to mend brokenness, but also change animal cruelty laws.

Donna Lawrence and the film executive producers are donating 50% of the net proceeds from the Susie’s Hope DVD sales to AHA.  (DVD available for purchase now via www.susieshope.com.)
